What's Happening in Phelps, Wisconsin

Mother and her ducklings in front of the dock of The cottaeWinter is here and the lakes are froze over. The lakes have anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of ice on them. Now is the best fishing of the season. The walleyes and perch are both biting. The fish are feeding all through the day so fish the weeds at varying depths. This truly is the best time of year.

The snowmobile trails are open. We only have about 4 inches of snow on the ground which makes for bad snowmobiling but easy access on the lakes.

Ski brule is open. All other area ski hills are also open. There are also miles of cross-country trails nearby. Winter is a great time to enjoy those silent sports.

Now is the time to start planning for those summerFishing off the end of the dock at The Cottage on Big Sand Lake

memories. With the price of gas being so high, we're only a tankful of gas away from most locations. You can stay right where you fish.
